Chastain Lawn Care

Meet the Owner – Bret Hightower

I am a native of Atlanta, born and raised in the East Cobb suburb of Marietta. Being environmentally-conscious and entrepreneurial started early for me. For instance, I collected recyclables from the neighborhood pool and would ask my parents to drive me to drop them off at the local recycling center every few weeks. Then in middle and high school, I became responsible for maintaining several neighborhood lawns, ultimately passing them along to my younger brother to take over. I love that Clean Air is in my hometown and that I get to provide Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Sandy Springs & Chastain lawn care services.

I was very fortunate that my childhood neighborhood was adjacent to hiking and mountain biking trails, providing direct access to the Cochran Shoals/Sope Creek paths. As I grew older, I spent much of my free time rock climbing local crags and backpacking the trails of North Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. All of these experiences almost certainly explain why I still love riding mountain bikes and have such a deep appreciation of all things outdoor to this day.

The only time I left Georgia was when I followed my passion for the outdoors and moved west for college in Ft. Collins, CO, attending Colorado State University and learning how to ski. My time out west made a big impact on my respect for nature and doing my part to preserve this amazing planet we all share for future generations.

All of my post-grad career has been spent based in Atlanta, with the last 18 years focusing on sales and service in the B2B employee benefits (insurance) space. I quickly learned that providing excellent service and communicating effectively with clients are the foundation for establishing and maintaining lasting relationships.

I married my wife Sarah, in 2012 and and shortly thereafter, we moved into an energy-efficient home in Brookhaven. Our Ashford Park neighborhood provided a great in-town feel with an abundance of younger families. We have very much enjoyed seeing the area prosper and are grateful to live so close to the Ashford Park Preserve greenspace and a short drive away from numerous state and national parks. We loved our house so much that we decided to set roots and continued building our wonderful network of friends and neighbors.

Our daughter was born in 2015 and son followed shortly after in 2017. We are very involved at Ashford Park Elementary School, as well as with local sports organizations. We typically have our beloved Golden Retrievers in tow as we visit breweries, go hiking and camping, play at local parks, and dine on restaurant patios watching college football or Braves games. My top hobbies are riding local mountain bike trails, running throughout our community, snow skiing, boating, participating in ultra trail running races, and working in my own yard.

Our family has always been dedicated to recycling as much as possible and has a great respect for the natural beauty of our forests, lakes, rivers and mountains. As parents, Sarah and I have worked to instill sustainable habits in our young children through daily recycling habits, minimizing single use plastics and shopping bags whenever possible, growing our own vegetables, and picking up trash to improve our neighborhood.

We spend much of our free time at home outside. We enjoy playing with our kids and dogs on the lawn that I’ve worked hard on over the years to surround with a variety of native trees and plants. One major annoyance while we’re outdoors is the almost perpetual disturbance associated with the noise and air pollution from traditional lawn companies that won’t negatively impact children, pets, our air quality and water supply.

I’d been longing for a transition to something that aligned more with my passion for the outdoors when I came across an opportunity to bring that same level of customer service I learned early on to the lawn care business while also making a positive imprint on the world around me. The use of all-electric blowers, mowers, and edgers was a big reason I became excited about Clean Air Lawn Care. Working with my hands and being active bring me great satisfaction, so I jumped at the opportunity to combine my professional experience and natural aptitudes with my passion for the outdoors. Hence, Clean Air Lawn Care Atlanta was born.
